I agree with you Satyros! Foreigners will not teach the nation which invented democracy what is democratic and what is not. Geirr, go open some good history/political science books and look at what REAL democracy was and should be. Being patriotic is one of the definitions of being a democrat. Those who do not love their homeland should be ridiculed and should not enter politics. Look at what happened to Zoran Djinjic (spelling?) and Anna Lindt who went against their nations (Djinjic wanted to settle Kosovo with the Albanians; Lindt wanted to bring millions of foreign immigrants to Sweden.) Go against your country and it's assasination time for you! I note your suggestion on reading good history/political science books which I have no problem with and is a fair suggestion. I was not intending on rubbishing Greek history which I very much respect and admire. Patriotism means different things to different people, to me its love and pride for your own country, to others its the belief of racial and cultural superiority over others which I think is a distortion of patriotism. If you feel that murder and assasination of people you don't agree with is a totally normal and valid part of a healthy democracy then I can only disagree. I also wish to correct your two examples, Zoran Djindjic was killed by serb nationlists (undemocratic cowards) but it probably had more to do with mafia and corruption than nationalism. news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/europe/3340623.stmAnna lindh was beautiful person who was very popular in both Sweden and overseas. She was murdered by a mentally deranged person who was told by Jesus to Stab her. news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/europe/3098092.stm

You don't have to provide links to stories that have been written by supporters of the assassinated. I know full well WHY Djinjic and Anna Lindt were killed. Have you wondered WHY Lindt's assassin was a Serb? Have you wondered what her role in Kosovo was? So people who are willing to protect their country from criminals like Anna Lindt are murderers and Anna Lindt who helped in the murder of thousands of innocent Serbs is a saint? Get a life, pal!

Satyros,
I think it is rather impolite to use Greek in a forum where most people can not understand it, especially in the middle of a heated discussion. If you cooled off a little you would perhaps not need to resort to it. What I mean is that, firstly Geirr said nothing that can be perceived as having Greece or the Greeks as a target. He made a general comment on the state of Democracy. If anything you should be the one to agree with him according to your disparaging remarks on Greek politics. If anyone is guilty of attacking or humiliating Greeks it is you by questioning the patriotism of 1/3 of the Greek population. The fact that you are Greek does not absolve you of responsibility. Secondly by attacking a major political party you should have known that some people would take offence and it would lead to confrontation. I am not against such confrontations but a thread on racial classification is hardly the place. I understand Praetor is not going to reply to you and I fully understand his reasons. Unfortunately I am less tolerant than he is. I did not take offence because of what you said about Papandreou or PASOK, I am not a supporter. I did consider the indirect comments you made in Greek about the Greeks outside Greece as a personal affront. In RM you openly questioned whether I am Greek and even asked me questions in Greek to make sure I was not an Albanian or something. I will spell it out clearly for you. I will not tolerate any self-appointed judge of my National Conscience or my patriotism neither those of the Greeks of the diaspora.

WHAAAAT? Are you calling me impolite?
Actually i think it is more like half of the Greek population i was insulting, thanks.
You are right about RM, i shouldnt question you, but if you remember the time this occured, some iritating RM posters were pretending to be Macedonians, were using Greeks names to post afrocentric crap, etc, and this is the reason i was suspicious of everyone. If you remember correctly, i actually praised your island and your islands famous poets some time later, when i was sure you actually were from there.
Artemidore, i am not speaking about diaspora Greeks, in the way you probably think some ignorant hot minded Greek would normally do. I have been there. I know how diaspora Greeks think. And i believe they tend to forget the actual way that things in Greece work, influenced by the conditions that exist in the countries they are living in. My hot minded attitude comes from the climate that exists these days in Greece as the pre-elections period has already started. Have you lived most of your life in Greece? If you have, i m sure you understand what i mean. My regards to your wife and your children (if you have any).
