Utilikilts are cool. I don't own one, but I'd like one. The leather ones are a tad expensive, though.

I adore kilts.... Not many men have legs for them, though.

We've actually got a child's kilt at home which has been passed down through our family, i'm only an 1/8th Scottish though.

The Roman military tunic was cool. Agreed and kilts are nice too. I think I react a big negative to men wearing skirts simply because it's not that common in the modern West. For example, the Somalis in skirts doesn't look odd, it looks a-ok, the same with folk costumes. H&M in Sweden once sold long skirts for men and they looked ok, but they probably didn't sell too many of them because the skirts were removed after a short time. This was 6-7 years back, I think.

At summer fairs and festivals in the American West, there is often a booth selling Utilikilts. I don't have much experience seeing men in skirts except for these two instances. I went to a party last year, and my friend's boyfriend wore a plaid kilt with a dagger in a scabbard hanging from it. We thought the dagger was freakier than the skirt. Then, I had a boyfriend many years ago who had beautiful long blond hair and was 6'4." He sometimes wore a cute white miniskirt in the summer. He was a masculine man, but complained about pants being hot and uncomfortable in the summer. It was quite a sight to see!

I have friends that wear kilts on special occasions, like high school graduation for example. I must say that the traditional outfits, like the one Sean connery is wearing, is quite classy in some regards. But, as for the other ones, FEMMES. The jacobites were especially sharp. It's my opinion unless you plan on charging a line of red coats, or are scottish celebrating your heritage, I'd say lay off the kilts.
