[ftp]http://www.corriere.it/Primo_Piano/Scienze_e_Tecnologie/2005/12_Dicembre/16/gene.shtml[/ftp] Articles on this subject are on all italian press today, googled but couldn't find anything in English ( ). However, basically it says Science published the discovery by Keith Cheng, Pennsylvania State University College of Medicine a Hershey (Usa), that the color of the skin is not determined by many (around 100) genes, but by the mutation in only one gene (slc24a5) which controls the production of melanine. The article affirms that around 100k b.p. among those of the h.s. who had moved to less hot/cold lands the "Michael Jakson" mutation of the aforementioned gene started to affirm itself, hence about 40k b.p. people like rutger hauer but more hairy could be seen around in Europe. Da Man's then been around for 40k years. Always pursuant to the article, this discovery will help to create better tanning products and also less aggressive ways to lighten skin and hair. Here's the map attached to the article, thanks to the strict pixel rules, you can't read anything on it
