Likes? I love Argentinian football! Since Turkey got screwed over I'm definitely supporting Argentina. Boca produced Diego, Roman, and Carlitos who are the better players, altho river produced a larger number of quality players: Gallardo, Mascherano, El grand capitan, Ortega, Cavenaghi etc. Right now Boca does indeed have a better team. I like Fernando Gago and that huge Bilos guy. River just has that Colombian teenager guy who I think is worth anything!

I think our technoligical advancements and relatively complex brains grossly distorted your interpretation of what it means to be a successful organism in this planet. A cockroach is more successful than humans. cockroaches survived 300 million years of drastic changes in earths atmosphere, a cockroach's design is so successful it didnt need to evolve one bit throughout all this time, while humans were feaces flinging monkeys just a thousand years back. Why do we keep evolving every few thousand years??? whats wrong with our design? Why cant we be like the noble cockroach, whos' satisfied and happy with his design because if it aint broke dont fix it. So what if we can goto outerspace or build A-bombs. Where lies perfection? The ability to design and build thermonuclear bombs, or the ability to survive one? I think you're bringing up a good point. So this excessive intelligence that Homo Sapien Sapiens process is still an experiment, a characteristic that hasn't been through the test of time in the Natrual progression of this planet over many many eras, right? So what are the conditions of the past that evolved this experimental characteristic of excessive intelligence and skill? What environment from the past that naturally selected certian portions of Homo Sapien Sapiens to produce in later generations this level of intelligence? We are merely living in the result of this evolved intelligence in the present. It's our descendents many generations in the future that can properly judge ourselves and we leave them. We are not that smart. It seems that we do now that we have accumulated thousands of years of culture, but for a recently formed modern homo sapiens the smarter he could be the better chances he had of surviving hazards such as migrations, wheather changes, food shortage. Maybe now, that we have so much knowledge accumulated and intelligence isn't as necessary to survive people will slowly become less smart. Why do humans need to be so intelligent that our species produces individuals that can make video iPods and the like? It's not a survival mechanism, nor is it a result for a need to survive?

some humans are smarter than other humans. muahahahahaha Yes, and there's no guarantee that high intelligence is a successful human mutation. So why has Nature and Natural Selection evolved it in humans? And how?

why be this intelligent?
So we can discuss things like homosexuality, white supremacy, and black pride.

why be this intelligent? So we can discuss things like homosexuality, white supremacy, and black pride. But those abilities aren't survival skills. They're not necessary for survival. The Human Species has survived for so long without using those abilities or even having them. So what is the purpose of an intelligence that creates such frivolity. What were the conditions in the history of earth's environment that naturally selected this quality of intelligence in the Human Species?

Maybe humans got so intelligent through some kind of runaway process.
When we were early primates we were fairly smart and we developed primitive culture (simple tools, simple clothes). This then made us less adapted physically (shorter nails, less body hair, less strength). This further increased our need for more intelligence/culture. This in turn made us less physically adapted and less instinctive.

Anyhow I dont need a logical explanation, like Stella says it may just be a continuing process. It may be akin to a computer. Originally developed to compute things and make calculations right. Well when the computers basics were met people released it could be developed for other purposes. Now people use the computer not just to compute, but for enjoyment, learning, sexual stuff, meeting new ppl, harassing others, buying products, and a score of other things. The stuff we can use a computer for is tremendous and keeps growing. And how we access it is also developing, laptops, cellular phones connected to the internet. Maybe it was this way that human intelligence developed. Also remember the appendix, completely useless as far as our current understanding is. Yet it is still here, not logical but the way it is. BTW Stella it seems as if ur ideas are a cut above most other dodonites I meet.

Features aren't deselected unless they're disadvantageous and cause any sort of drawback. Not being advantageous has nothing to do with it. Only drift and chance will get rid of neutral features.

why did God make me so smart? NO! Why did natural selection make us this smart? Who said "natural selection" had anything to do with it? One of the most interesting theories I've heard comes from an author named Terrence Mckenna, he titled it the "stoned ape theory", if you're interested theres plenty of sites that you'd be able to find easilly. Here's one. users.lycaeum.org/~sputnik/McKenna/Evolution/
