Only traditions of evil witches and foul medieval torture chambers, you pathetic little english people! Too bad too bad... So what does the little filthy english man tell us? Than a nerdy jew would make a film entitled 'Mighty Aphrodite', and Aphrodite is a well known Greek name. Whats your point, little englishman? Even if what you say happened, guess what, the only place a nerdy jew would be able to make such a film, would be .....you got it! An anglo country! Like Britain or America! And the only audience who would pay to see such a film, would be ......you guessed it englishman! Blondie little englishpeople like you!!!! And you would enjoy the film quite a lot! The name Aphrodite thouhg doesnt lose anything from unworthy people using it, thats a fact.

Calm down my little Greek friend, surely you must know that name-calling only serves to make the name-caller appear juvenile and lacking intelligence, us English simply rise above such childish behaviour. As for names of Anglo Saxon gods, well you should know at least some of them seeing as you probably use them quite often there is of course 'Sunna' the goddess who gave her name to the day 'Sunday' 'Mani' who was the moon god and whom the day 'Monday' is named after. 'Tiwaz/Tyr' who was god of war and whom the day 'Tuesday' is named after. 'Wodan' the head god of whom 'Wednesday' is named after. 'Thunor' the god who gave his name to 'thunder' aswell as 'Thursday' and 'Frigga' the goddess of fertility whom 'Friday' is named after of course with the complete dominance of English as the world language these names are used in every corner of the world literally billions of times a day, especially with the use of the World Wide Web that was so kindly given as a gift to the world by that great Englishman 'Tim Berners Lee'. You Greeks probably have your own names for days of the week but I like 99.99 % of the world wouldnt know 1 of them.

The way they sing reminded me of American Indians.

I'm sorry but I know next to nothing about Celtic culture and mythology, I guess I should learn something of it as it is a part of my own culture aswell as that of the so called 'Celtic nations' of the British Isles.

Isnt Lada the name an old car used to have? Yeah. Female. She is a Slavic counterpart of Aphrodite, actually.

The strangeness in the hearing of those names can only reveal the general lack of european awareness and paideia that reigns to the present day. That just sounds like the name of a film a short nerdy jewish guy who sleeps with his adopted daughter might make ! Who, who? ;D

A couple of years ago, I watched a reconstruction of Kupala celebration in polish TV. It was far more professional than what these amateurs have done and made to imitate a theatre spectacle. I don't know how accurate that reconstruction was but there were a lot of naked ladies running around - I guess our ancestors were quite obscene. ;D As for the song they sing, I don't know what it is but it reminds me of a folk song, titled "chubariki chubchiki". It's a russian-polish-ukrainian song (and maybe sung also somewhere else). The title itself seems to be quite exotic to me and it looks like the origins of this song can be traced to the pagan era. Many pagan habits survived in Poland up to early industrial era (and some of them are still practised). I think that in the Middle Ages there was even a special term coined to describe a bizarre combination of christianity with some preserved pagan celebrations. As far as I know, they used to call it "dwojwiera" - in polish it means "double-faith".

Who, who? ;D Woody Allen ! was quite a good film actually I thought but then I'm biased as I have a bit of a thing for Mira Sorvino. I only mentioned it as a bit of a lighthearted joke at the expense of Woody Allen but unfortunately it seems some Greeks are very insecure.

I absolutely don't see what's wrong with those sacred names. As a matter of fact, Dazdbog sounds quite inspiring.
