When I was a child, I often looked at my sleeping cat and wondered why I was born to be me and why she was a cat and I wasn't...

Who says wealthy whites are any happier than anyone else? The human nature is to always achieve more. Sub-saharans are probably just as happy as WASPY depressed bored suburbanites..

Ethiopia wasn't conquered by any of colonial powers, was it? What I wanted to say is that people are responsible for their own fate and shouldn't blame others.

did colonialism cause starving people in africa to have such huge families when they dont have enough food to feed them ! This reminds me of the typical response of the Mexican illegal immigrant "I just want to feed my children." Since is it the perrogative of the every day American to force the Mexican underclass to have mistakenly get pregnant over and over and over and over. Why should these personal actions the consequences of them be the concern of the American citizen? We're paying with our country so they can have a lot of condomless sex?

Does "colonialism" sound too liberal as an answer? Actually they have been miserable and starving before and after colonialism, not during it. So ... henerte: you forget our mighty Italian African Empire . Btw Etiopia or Lybia are still benefiting for it (no kidding). Makes it even for my wrong claim of Puglia being more eastern than Warsaw.

Does "colonialism" sound too liberal as an answer? Actually they have been miserable and starving before and after colonialism, not during it. So ... This is a common, yet false, belief. Actually till the beginning of european colonialism the average indian or chiense or even african (in many parts of Africa) was just as wealthy, or even wealthier than the average european.
