There are elderly Polish Jews in Israel who went to elementary school with Karol Wojtyla, and they have nothing but good things to say about him. Very sad.

He was a truly admirable and respected man. We know he is with his Father in heaven now.

He was a great man. I think the Catholic Church will make him a saint.

I don't think so, as he didn't really perform any miracles. You gotta do supernatural things to be a saint. I think the Catholic Church will make him a saint.

It saddens me to see the sadness of some people. I'm reminded of that passage where Jesus was moved to compassion because they were “as sheep without a sheperd".
p.s. What about that sixth picture on the second row. Is that you, henerte?

1- I wonder why the marriage of catholic or orthodox priests and sisters are forbidden in Christianity. Because of this great constraint, many acts of paedophilia or homosexuality or other sexual relation occur, some of them with scandals as, for example, in catholic church of Boston in USA last year. I sincerely think that priests or sisters who can't control themselves has to be allowed to get normal marriage and get normal life. After all, we are human being "And of His signs is this : He created for you helpmeets from yourselves that ye might find rest in them , and He ordained between you love and mercy . Lo , herein indeed are portents for folk who reflect" Coran (30, 21)
I hope that the successor of J.P 2 will cancel this constraint and allow religious people , at least those who can't control themselves, to have normal marriage and normal life. It will surely stop this scandals. "Then We caused Our messengers to follow in their footsteps ; and We caused Jesus , son of Mary , to follow , and gave him the Gospel , and placed compassion and mercy in the hearts of those who followed him . But monasticism they invented . We ordained it not for them . Only seeking Allah ' s pleasure , and they observed it not with right observance . So We give those of them who believe their reward , but many of them are evil livers" (Coran 57, 27)
2- I also read that J.P 2 was against the Turkish adhesion to EU because, as he said, Europe can't breath with 2 lungs (I think he means Muslims and Christians). But Muslims are already living and integrated in Europe as many Christians are living and integrated in Islamic countries. 3- What was the historic problem between orthodox and catholic followers ? 4- I appreciated his fight against abortion.

1- I wonder why the marriage of catholic or orthodox priests and sisters are forbidden in Christianity. It's because the church doesn't want to have to share it's money with the priest's families. They were probably having this problem in the middle ages when they forbid it. It's one thing to sustain a person, but it's another to sustain an entire family. Same goes for the priest's time and attention. A catholic priest is supposed to be devoted full time to the church. Eastern orthodox and eastern rite catholic priests can be married, as long as it's before they're ordained. 1- I wonder why the marriage of catholic or orthodox priests and sisters are forbidden in Christianity. Using condoms is a sin according to the Pope. Even in Africa, where overpopulation and AIDS are the biggest problems.
Telling them not to wear condoms is almost like mass-murder.
R.I.P.

Eastern orthodox and eastern rite catholic priests can be married, as long as it's before they're ordained. In Orthodox Christianity there are 2 types of clergy: priests - who can marry and have families and serve in local churches in the populated areas (they are counterparts of Protestant pastors), and monks - who live in celibacy (usually in secluded monasteries) Church officials, however, are always chosen between the monks, who usually get ordained early, so that they don't get married or have children.

I don't think so, as he didn't really perform any miracles. You gotta do supernatural things to be a saint. Of course I am biased, but I can find no fault in this man, even though I as Roman Catholic have been frustrated that my Faith has not moved along with society. But wait! Which society? For all societies differ, Catholicism unifies people by ignoring 'pop-culture ' or fashion faux paux societies and remains steadfast through the ages. AIDS is brought on by acts considered sinful and most of all by promiscuous sex. Morals is the cure, not condoms (not 100% protective anyway). If all that's stands in the way of a deadly disease is a mere piece of rubber then God help us all. Condom use will only sanction more AIDS for people have sex more without consideration, relying soley on that little rubber to protect them - it won't. Besides, Europe's populations would not face the threat they do if they had more children instead of falling birthrates and abortion. As for John Paul II, my Papa yes he will become a saint and yes he will perfom the necessary miracles. He was the Papa after all, so he knows what he needs to do. Early signs of sainthood are the condition of mortal remains, indicating that they are incorruptible. John Paul's remains have lay in State for almost one week and have not deteriorated, yet he has not even been embalmed: www.wkrc.com/news/world/story.aspx?content_id=43A2B361-6A71-477C-86C9-F5048F082B37members.aol.com/ccmail/incorruptbodies.html

All I can say is it is a good thing I was born into a Church that allows divorce, does not tell me what form of contraception to use and does not have saints. As for priests or monks or whatever they are just men. Nothing special about them. It might be news to some of you but HIV infection can be passed on in normal heterosexual sex.

I think it's gonna be a bit difficult for him to perform miracles now, being dead and all. As far as I know Saints must perform miracles when they're alive, which he didn't.
