I'll appreciate it if you stop insulting fassi and his religion; Islam is after all the religion of most today North Africans. If the god of Islam (Allah) is the REAL GOD, he will overreign and its not ME or YOU who will prevent HIM from doing that. If HE doesnt exist, WE cannot make him exist. Why arguing!?
I just dislike the disputes between NAs.

Just curious, how common is it for North Africans, specially Berbers to not be muslim?
How socially acceptable is it in the maghreb to be Christian, Pagan, Atheist or whatever?

To my knowledge, before the Muslim invasion, the majority of North Africans (that is, Berbers and Egyptians) were Christian.

VERY VERY commun anmong the kabyles, Half of my family (especially the males) are without religion (no christians or jews, only muslims... for the moment), Muslim Kabyles respect a lot atheists and few dare to call them "infidel". Matoub Lounes was one of the most islamophobe among the kabyles, after his assasination the region had seen riots and every thing symbolizing the Algerian goverment had been destroyed in Kabylie, and guess what? His fans are predominantly muslims!!!    If you go out of Kabylie, it's not at all tolerant towards non-muslims. |
