Since users access this board in a variety of Internet connections, it is a good policy to avoid posting large images in your messages. If you want to point to a large image, say more than 800 pixels wide, then it's a good idea to provide a link to the image using the <url></url> tag (the < > should be replaced with square brackets [ ]) instead of the <img></img> tag. That way, users can choose whether or not they want to view the images.

Dienekes,
Got a height=1492 x width=1972 image here but re-sized using BBC code:
[img width=493 height=373 src="http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/c/c1/Fayum-31.jpg"]
Thumbnail's not too hard either.
[url=http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/c/c1/Fayum-31.jpg] [img width=493 height=373 src="http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/c/c1/Fayum-31.jpg"][/url] [size=1]Click on image to see full-sized image in new window[/size]
Are these permitted?

Thumbnails are permitted, resizing is not permitted, because it still forces the browser to load the big image.

Thumbnails are permitted, resizing is not permitted, because it still forces the browser to load the big image. Got it. Thumbnails or any other image must conform to the size requirement of 800 pixels wide or less in actual terms, not BBC-resized as I did. Otherwise a link is required. Example of using a pre-existing thumbnail image to link to an excessively large image:
Click on image to see full-sized image in new window [url=http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/c/c1/Fayum-31.jpg] [img]http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/2/21/120px-Fayum-31.jpg[/img][/url] [size=1]Click on image to see full-sized image in new window[/size]
