Her name is Becca Swanson. She is said to be the strongest woman in the world. She can bench press over 500 pounds! She has competed in both powerlifting and strongwoman contests. She holds world records in the former sport. There are other American women who excel in strength sports. For example, Cheryl Haworth is the American female heavyweight weightlifting champion. I noticed that there doesn't seem to be a lot of these women in other parts of the world. It makes me think that one of the reasons for this is because strong women are unacceptable in certain ethnic cultures. www.bodybuilding.com/fun/criticalbench18.htm

Weightlifters and these so-called strong men, are paradoxically, usually very unhealthy people. With all sorts of organ problems and other medical illnesses that affect them, that doesn't affect normal people. Endurance is another thing. I saw some some survival type show, where many different people were chosen, from bicyclists to bodybuilders. It was no suprise when the guy quit a couple days into it.

One must not confuse hypertrophy with health.
