Yeah lots of Italians mixed with Northern Europeans thats why blondism and depigmentation among Italian Americans is alot more common than it is among Italians back in the old country.Like I said in another thread my aunt's daughter is as blonde and blue eyed as the girls on the Brady Bunch and she's half Italian and her dad is English,German, and Polish and is very blonde and Nordic looking himself, she looks more Nordic than Med so she pulled after her father. She would stick out like a sore thumb if she went to Italy even though she's half Italian she would look more at home in Northern Europe.

, though still, Italy is very phenotypically diverse within the European spectrum of appearances. . What you mean exactly ?

huzar is somewhat correct when saying that the north of italy is separate in history from the rest of the peninsula. genetically, north italians are quite separate from south italians who bear more levantine ancestry.
the most reliable study by giacomo (which used large sample numbers, esp. for the south italians, north italians, and greeks) showed that the north italians had only 10.4% of haplogroup J while the greeks, the south italians, and the cretans had numbers of 20%, 24%, and 37% respectively.
