Are these thugs first generation immigrants or second or third? Because it is common for second generation immigrants (who are born in the new country) to be all 'screwed' up for lack of a better term. I know this isn't true for every ethnic group, but there is an undeniable pattern (France, US, Australia). You can't just say "go back to your country" when many of these young thugs might not have even been to that country or know the language.
To say that these thugs are screwed up is not an excuse, but it is a fact. The situation should be further examined to figure out exactly why second/third generation males become that way.
I checked out the woglife.com message boards once. They are not all thugs there.

I knew an Australian girl who would tell me that Lebanese men were rude and violent. She has a fear (I suppose you could say a healthy fear consider the story she later told me) of Lebanese men. She told me of one incident where she tried to defend a friend from the girl's Lebanese boyfriend and she ended up getting choked until she passed out.
Apparently Lebanese men have a reputation of being ultra "macho." Although, I don't find hitting and choking women to be very manly.

Toasty wouldn't be beaten up because Toasty's clearly not Lebanese. He's Spanish. Australia's had Spanish people since the Spaniards named the Torres Strait above Australia's northern border. Here's a picture of Australian actor Adam Garcia: Australia also has Italians, like Anthony LaPaglia. So, no, they're not against Euro-Mediterraneans. They're fed up with Arabs. Don't assume that just because the BBC used "Mediterranean" as a code-word for "Lebanese" that the Aussies hate Southern Europeans. After all, there aren't roving street gangs of Spaniards or Italians. So until Australians start confusing Mr. Garcia and LaPaglia for this guy, Toasty should be safe:

Toni Collette and Natalie Imbruglia are others. However Australia has some of the most devastating laws on earth which are taking thei toll on the honest citizens...people arent allowed to own personal firearms for protection. They also have Anti-Discrimination Act and Anti-Racial Hatred legislation. www.cnn.com/WORLD/9605/10/aussie.gun.control/

Don't assume that just because the BBC used "Mediterranean" as a code-word for "Lebanese" that the Aussies hate Southern Europeans. After all, there aren't roving street gangs of Spaniards or Italians. The title of this thread is misleading. This was a riot between mostly Anglo-Keltic 'Aussies' and Lebanese (Muslim) gangs from another part of Sydney. It's been brewing for months and it was somewhat inevitable. For some time, Lebanese gangs have been making a pest of themselves on beaches there and the locals have just had enough. Most of those 'Aussies' are drunken louts who are members of a local surfie gang the 'shire boys' while those Lebanese gangs are largely people you don't want in your country. The Premier of New South Wales Morris Iemma is of Italian descent and about 20% of the Caucasian population in Australia is of non Anglo European descent (Australian bureau of stats 2002). Surfing champion Mark Occhilupo who has surfed most of his life in Cronulla is also of Italian descent and no one would ever question his nationality. "Mediterranean" is a very vague term first of all, second of all, it's Australia, where if you're not pasty-skinned, blond-haired, and blue-eyed, you're not white, since most people are British/Irish. I'm well aware that non-Anglos are often looked down upon there. That's rubbish, you must think that all the convicts were really Swedish rather than British. Many of those drunkards were neither blonde or pasty and some were even part islander. It’s a local turf war over a beach.

It's a good thing the Aussies kick those Lebanese cavemen's butts. If you can't behave in the country that gave you a home, then get the f*ck out. Again with the ME apes who give the rest of us a bad name.

It was on the news here, of course they're blaming it all on "the ugly face of racism in Australia"
No mention of what it was the arabs had been doing to make so many people so angry with them !
As an aside did you know that the nickname for football in Australia is 'wogball' as it is or was mainly played by immigrants from the Mediteranean there.

The Lebanese in Australia are mostly Muslims, and the youth consists of idiots who mimic Afro-American hip hop culture and think they're 50 Cent and all of that crap. It's the same in Europe, where Muslim Middle Easteners for some reason identify with African Americans and try to differentiate themselves from the host populations. The Mediterraneans mentioned in the article are indeed South Europeans, as Anglo-Australians also have a deep hatred against these "Wogs", which mostly means Greeks and Italians. www.news.com.au/story/0,10117,17531782-2,00.html

I think the hatred against Southern Europeans is rooted in their swartiness alone, as they came to Australia back when they still had these "white only" immigration policies i think. I don't know why Wogs are singled out in that Cronulla incident, but here's another quote, from Wikipedia: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2005_Cronulla_race_riotsI have a bunch of Lebanese relatives down there, i sure hope the Leb-bashery won't become a nationwide hobby.
