China!!!! the only ancient empire that has survived to this day and (arguably) still following the dynastic cycle. It may be the most ancient empire to survive to this day, but it certainly isn't the only living ancient identity, culture or civilisation. Now that I think of it - the Graeco-Roman Christian civilisation of East Rome was one of the longest lived empires - it saw the inception of the worlds first international language, it saw the fusion of the humanistic ideals of ancient Greece with Judaic wisdom to form Christianity, it built the most ingenious structure of antiquity - the Hagia Sofia, it protected western Europe from invasion, had one of the most powerful military's in the Middle Ages, and kept this up through to the late Middle Ages. It was a bridge between antiquity and modernity. And even though it was eventually conquered, the many people who constituted it haven't lost their identities - the Greeks, for example, even though East Rome is only one facet of their much longer cultural history.

Yes, the Greek civilization never really ended. It just changed throughout time to accomodate new circumstances.

Many peoples have contributed to the humanity in different ways, so it's really difficult to tell which civilization was the greatest of them all. But if I really had to name one civilization I admire the most it would be the Roman one. I like the pragmaticy of the Romans, their capacity of absorbing elements from other civilizations to theirs when they thought it would advantage their developement.

For Ancient Civilization, I'd have to go with Egypt. So much of what they did stood the test of time. Their level of skill in building lasting monuments is unsurpassed.
For all civilization, I'd have to go with Western Civilization. Modern Machinery, The Internet, Computers, Airplanes, Space Travel. ...I'm not saying it won't be surpassed. But right now, they do have the bragging rights.
