Interacial marriage, and mating, is well, ...actually pretty rare. Our own prejudices conspire to keep us locked in with the familiar.
But there are places in the world where at various times, admixtures occur more frequently.
Where in the world today would you say are the most intersting and abundant admixtures occuring? ...Where are the least? (Curious what people think.)

I think in Brazil ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/smiley.png) You can find almost all imaginable combinations there! African, Caucasian, Japanese, Chinese, Middle-Eastern, European, Native American... and all the imaginable mixes ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/smiley.png) p.s. Thinking now... there are also many immigrants in USA, but I have a feeling interracial marriages there are still much less socially acceptable and more frowned upon... But then again, maybe I don't have accurate info on that subject, so feel free to correct me ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/smiley.png) In the meantime, I'll definitely go wtih BRAZIL ;D

I'll feel free to Politically Correct you. YOU'RE RACIST!!!!!
Actually, I would have to say that Brazil is a pretty good contender.
I was thinking Indonesia, or some place like the Philipinnes, but Brazil has them beat.
I would have to say that China is the least, with Han, being the largest single massed ethnic group in the world.

I'll feel free to Politically Correct you. YOU'RE RACIST!!!!! Have I missed something? Could you elaborate on that, please? ![???](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/huh.png) I was just saying that that was the impression I have about the USA. I've never been there and as I can only judge by the picture I get from the media (which is definitely biased), I was hoping for some constructive and insightful comments, not an arbitrary classification of moi. ![;)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/wink.png)

I agree, Brazil is the best choice. It's a bigass country, too. Plenty of room for the diverse races who live there.

Brazil may have everyone beat out as far as numbers, but I would have to put down Suriname as far as "interesting" admixtures. There its not uncommon to find someone who is 1/4 Dutch, 1/4 Native American, 1/4 African, and 1/4 Javanese. Just like the British brought in Indian Servants to fill the labor void left by the newely freed slaves, the Dutch imported Indonesians to places like Suriname to do the same; and over the years they've intermarried or at least cohabited and reproduced with the Afro/ Euro/ Native Americans that were already there. Actually most countries in and associated with the Caribbean have pretty mixed populations.

Here are some countries where the majority of the people are mixed:
Cape Verde: Afro-Portuguese mulattoes
Seychelles/ Reunion/ Comoros Islands: African, French, British, Chinese, Arabian and Indian multiracial "Creole" mix
Central and South America: in many of the countries the majority of the people are either Spanish/ Portuguese Mestizos (Mexico) or Mulattoes (Panama)
Norfolk Island: British/ Scottish/Irish- Polynesian
Greenland: Danish-Inuit Eurasians
St. Helena: British/ Irish/ Scottish, Chinese, African Tri-racials
Belize: British/ Irish/ Scottish -African Mulattoes, Spanish Mestizos, and Garifuna (Afro- Native Americans)

I agree. In Brazil you can find pretty much any sort of mix you can imagine, since, except for Australoids and Khoisan people, we have pretty much everyone here. But there's a misconception about Brazil that many foreigners seem to have. They hear about the racial diversity here and believe that the vast majority of Brazilians are a homogeneous mix between every single race in the world. But that's not really the case. Yes, there is a lot of mixed folks, but the variety also includes many different, "unmixed" (between "" because nobody is really "unmixed", but you know what I'm saying) groups. What I mean is: some people hearthat in Brazil there are Africans, Portuguese, Japanese, Italians, Germans, Amerindians, Lebanses, and so on, so they think most Brazilians actually for some sort of Brazilian Race that is a mix between all that people, while in fact, the interesting thing here is that you can find the mixed folks as well as a good number of representatives of what the original groups looked like. A German frienc of mine who used to live here said he had some sort of stereotype that all Brazilians were supposed to look "hispanic" as in the USA "hispanics" (already a problematic concept) from TV because of this whole "homogeneous mix" misconcept I was talking about, but when he got here he found himself ammong people who looke like everything from west African to Nordic to Amerindian and everything else you can imagine. Suriname is a good example of what I said some people think Brazil is. It's a relatively homogenous group formed out of a mix between various populations. I mean, even their language is a mix between Dutch, English, Indonesian, Portuguese, Spanish and god knows what else, plus African and Amerindian loans. Brazil may have everyone beat out as far as numbers, but I would have to put down Suriname as far as "interesting" admixtures. There its not uncommon to find someone who is 1/4 Dutch, 1/4 Native American, 1/4 African, and 1/4 Javanese. Not really. There's no significant Portuguese influence in Spanish America, except for Venezuela and maybe Uruguay. Portuguese Mestizos (Mexico) or Mulattoes (Panama)

Not really. There's no significant Portuguese influence in Spanish America, except for Venezuela and maybe Uruguay. When I said Portugese I was refering to Brazil, but since there had already been several mentions of that country I wanted to mention others i.e. Mexico (Spanish) and Panama (Spanish).
