menshealth.about.com/cs/menonly/a/circumcision.htmSouth Korea - 90% United States - 60% United Kingdom - 21% Canada - 20% Australia - 15% Sweden - 6% (3000 baby boys get circumcised annually - out of ~47,000 males born annually) does anyone have a more complete list? this is interesting. the general trend seems to be down. although in s.korea it seems to be the opposite why is this? how does everyone feel about this issue? im 100% uncut, natural myself. do you think the US will continue it's reduction in circumcision rates? AFAIK, in the US such rates vary from region to region. the West coast has the lowest rates there, and coincedently is the most liberal part of America, so i'd imagine this is the future trend.

Hmmmm, there are reasons for circumcision such as hygiene and aesthetics (studies have also shown they are less susceptible to AIDS). I don't understand why europe does'nt practice it more. It is a harmless, quick and beneficial process for the young boy. And the ladies dig it ![;)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/wink.png) Going "natural" is rather ugly. I would'nt want my genitals to look like a grubworm thank you very much.

I would'nt want my genitals to look like a grubworm thank you very much. i think it's mostly a case of status-quo 'fashion'/religion on one side, and economics/practicality/status-quo on the other. that is, much of the circumcision in the world descends from religion (in particular abrahamic faiths. i believe muslims, jews, and catholics are the most common to practice this), some is probably due to independent rituals/traditions such as in parts of non-muslim africa where they still conduct circumcision (both male & female). the fact that the US has high rates of circumcision, I would say basically stems from religion, although has been institutionalised over time, and various scientific benefits have been in place to justify such surgery. however, what i believe to be occuring today. is that there is a steady decrement of religion in such societies, and more of a liberal attitude. essentially without religion, there is nothing ultimate that is keeping religion high (the US is a lot more religious, and conservative than Europe or Canada for instance). secondly the economic/practically of circumcision. you see to perform circumcision it takes time, may be only a 10 minute operation (and possible further time), but that's an extra operation that hospitals could do without. and if the benefits (which are very contested either way, such as reduced risk of infections, risk of complications/trauma, reduced sexual stimulation etc. etc.) are not seen clear or overwhelming enough, then hospitals/doctors/surgeons are going to be less likely to want to perform the operation. i think the fashion/social conditioning (porn industry, which is very American dominated), leads to aesthetics going in this direction. fortunately for me. when you have a 9 incher, fully erect it has a pseudo-circumcised appearence. ;D

"un-cut" is ugly. Your penis looks like a bug larvae. Chicks definitely don't dig that. I've heard of ways to regain the foreskin. I suppose you could if you really wanted it back that badly. I'll pass on that one ![;)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/wink.png) Circumcision rules, it has'nt decreased my "sensitivity" or anything for me.

I'm 100% percent natural uncut and uncensored. ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/smiley.png) The foreskin is there for a reason. If people use the hygiene reason excuse, really, how hard is to get your dick and pull back the forskin and wash it with soap and water when you take a shower?

I live in the US and I'm part of the other 40%. ;D do you live on the west coast? IIRC California had a circumcision rate of 37% in 1999... ^ perhaps relates to muslims (high circumcision/low promiscuity) vs non muslims? www.medicirc.org/newsletter/0208more_american.htmli think many of these statistically increased/reduced risks. are just due to the fact that circumcision ties with other factors such as religion, nation, region, culture etc. so it's like if ur circumcised and live in a 1st world country. then there's a higher %age chance that you'll have internet access, since the US, and S.Korea both have high circumcision rates, and internet access. ![::)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/eyesroll.png)

Found an interesting article on Wiki/ en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Circumcision A quote: "The ancient Greeks, however, considered an unmodified penis far more aesthetic than a circumcised one. Ancient Greek artwork portrayed penises as covered by the foreskin (sometimes in exquisite detail), except in the portrayal of satyrs, lechers, and barbarians.[24] (http://www.cirp.org/library/history/hodges2/) The Greek preference for the uncircumcised penis is reflected in Herodotus' comment on the Egyptians: "They practice circumcision for the sake of cleanliness, considering it better to be clean than comely." (Herodotus, Book 2, 37:2)."

Interestingly alot of the erotic artwork in Pompey displays the circumcised penis. It was adopted under Hadrian I think. So even the Romans practised it.
Herodotus says that the Egyptians, Colchians, and Ethiopians, from very early times, were circumcised; and he mentions other races, like the Phoenicians and Syrians of Palestine did aswel.
