Is it true that most men prefer women to have long hair? I don't think I've met a single man who prefers short hair! Most say that short can be nice, but long hair is more beautiful.

Well, I've had girls tell me (under 25 age group) that they don't really like the huge bulked up Schwarzenegger look as much as many of us guys thought. I used to think they did, but it seems that I was mistaken. A thin, athletic-looking body with some muscle seems to be the most preferred type. I think some of the attitudes on muscle mass in different cultures must be partially attributed to genetics. East Asians typically don't build muscle as quickly and are generally thinner (though some Asian-Americans who have Western ideals sometimes adopt the Western attitudes of going to the gym more), so I suppose that has carried over to the cultural values of their societies. Also, is it me or do most Caucasoid males who have more muscle mass tend to be of central to eastern European ancestry? You see an awful lot of Russians, Poles, Germans, and Balkanians in the "World's Strong Man" competitions and so forth. yeah, but most importantly I think they perfer that you know how to use that muscle that's in between your legs and that u have it worked out. ;D

Is it true that most men prefer women to have long hair? I think so. It often depends on the woman's age, though.

Interesting because I haven't noticed a particularly large number of Italians in bodybuilding. Of course there are exceptions (Lou Ferrigno, Charles Atlas, or Stallone), but to me it seems that Italians don't put on muscle as easily from my experience. The same seems to apply to other Meds. Personally, I think for Italians it varies since there is more Alpine/Dinaric influence. Many are short, slightly built Meds whereas maybe others are bigger and more muscular. I think Iberians are typically more slender since they're more often "straight Med." For me, it's the eastern Europeans and, as you said, Scandinavians who seem to be the bulkiest.

Maybe I just happened to notice them more, or maybe I just happened to see certain events in which there was a large percentage of them. I almost never watch male bodybuilding competitions. There are some huge Italian stars in strength sports, though. Franco Columbo and Larry Pacifico were the best in their sports at one time.

I have been just lurking for a while, but here's a conversation that I feel like contributing to. I find the article very interesting, and - to answer the question made by Vela- do think that it has some substance. I've noticed that on a purely physical level all of my friends do prefer, as do I, V-shaped, but not too muscular male bodies. Broad shoulders and height do seem to be a definite turn-ons to all of us. Anyhow, generally speaking there are factors that do compensate the lack of shoulders in our minds.

Interesting topic. As someone who's been working out for 6 years now I think that what it boils down is whether you exercise out of a sense of vanity or because you personally enjoy the challenge. Most people I've come into contact with fall in the latter category, although some (usually teens) exercise purely for vanity. IMO you're just setting yourself up for the fall if you workout solely for your ego. Looks don't last forever, and when you realize that your priorities change.

I know a lot of guys here at my uni that only work out very regiously after new years all the way till March to get ready for Spring Break. ;D Then they go back to their old fat/skinny selves or whatever shape they were in.

Not too buff,(Schwarzenegger) and not the skinny looking muscle either.(bruce lee type) Somewhere in between those two guys.
