Do you know if the "City in a Pyramid" project is on hold or was it definitely canceled? Well right now it isn't workable, mostly due to the fact that much of the city can only be constructed with a robotic labour force. If the Shimizu Pyramid City was to be succesfully constructed it would be the greatest feat of engineering in history. I watched this documentary on the Discovery channel and I was blown away by the ingenuity of the engineers. For example, the biggest obstacle facing them would be the supporting piers that would hold up the city. Conventional materials like concrete could not withstand the pressure of supporting so much mass. So, they opted to use a graphite like material that sort of compresses itself, kind of like a spring in a mattress. But in a nutshell, it just isn't feasible now.

Well, maybe a scaled down version would be feasible in the not too distant future. If only the world didn't wasted so much money and resources in self-destructive endeavors, otherwise known as wars.

The sollution to Overpopulation, like most things is... ...America.
Look at countries America has had an influence on in the last 50 years.
S. Korea Japan Western Europe
In all of these places, where the Pax Americana exists, population decline is a rapid fact.
Look at Spain, and Japan. Those poor people are practically celebate when it comes to pro-creation.
NOTHING devastates a countries population like Capitalism. Look at South Korea. They want to unify with the North, just so they can get some more people.
WAR IS NOTHING, compared to how in a very stable way Capitalism makes people consider their choices and scale back on the children they have.
So I hope that we can all agree, that the proper solution is to "viciously" exploit these countries into making sneakers for us, and let them better their lives as much as they can, with the wages we provide. ...Don't use floods of immigration as a solution, but modest moderated intakes.
And the problem really solves itself.
Just like America... CAPITALISM RULES!!!!

I think the world is overpopulated. While agrarian societies do not tax the world's resources, the Western standard of living does, and as everyone is exposed to Americanization, they all want what the West has. As not everyone in the world can have this standard of living and as Westerners won't give it up, I propose to allow the Third World to die off. If we allow it to industrialize it will take generations, and they will go thru the same polluted phase as the West. Westerners are better equipped to handle to environmental challenges of the future. Westerners will not allow the rest of the world to surpass them, nor will they have less kids simply not to overpopulate. The only answer is to cut aid to the Third World, stop immigration from it, and maybe even launch a pre-emptive strike before the world descends into chaos due to fighting over natural resources. If steps are not taken, the world goes to the group with the largest birth rate, not skill-level, etc. It's in the interest of self-preservation. The ONLY race headed for extinction is the WHITE RACE ;D GOOD RIDDANCE!

i was rather horrified to read your opinion to towards overpopulation. None of u even LIVE in a third world country to know what it is like. Your view is created by the media and what they think of us as third world country. I live in SA (south africa for those not quite worldly inclined) and i must admit that i live in a better lifestyle, live in a bigger house and have much better weather than most Western and European people. Regarding overpopulation, just take a look at the streets of Germany, New York and Japan and decide whether third World countrys are overpopluated or 1st world countrys. Personally, i think nature is already trying to control the population using natural disasters and Aids.
