Yes excuse me,they where non-citizens (who were granted Roman citizenship upon discharge) who where culled up from the local populations after Rome had conquered their lands(sorta like the Foreign Waffen SS Divisions) .But other than that,everything else I stated was actual and factual. The Axillaries units where complimentary and support use only ,they also where used as advanced reconnaissance squad ,they where not the main calvary nor would've played a main role next to the main Roman strike force during battles. Again they where only used for special tasks.
Only in the late Imperial era did Auxiliaries play a much larger parts,as they became in actuality the "Roman Army" which was barbarian at that point.
