In a couple of days a new interesting WWII movie will be released in the cinemas about the famous raid to liberate over 500 U.S. troops held at a Japanese POW camp in the Philippines. The reason I am writing this message is that the above-mentioned raid is commonly hailed as the largest rescue of prisoners from a camp located on Axis-occupied territory, but in reality that is not really the case. There was another great raid which resulted in the liberation of 500 Axis-held prisoners from a camp in occupied south-eastern Poland, carried-out by the local Polish GL partisans in 1942.Sadly, not only nobody ever bothers to mention that other Great Raid, but that U.S. raid in the Philippines is unfairly credited with being the only one of this magnitude. If you wish to read about that Polish Great Raid, then check the link below. wolnapolska.boom.ru/index-GL42.html
