Please don't villify my position, friend, because I do not wish to peg anybody nor rub you the wrong way. In fact I've said on many an occasion that racial types are hardly exact or discrete, but are like colors in a great spectrum. Still just as one can pick out red, blue, and yellow from the spectrum with relative ease, so can one pick out Nordic, Atlantid, Dinaric, and Borreby. So they are not as discrete as some are led to believe, but they are recognizable tendencies that can be given names. As for British prognathy, I believe the Brunn type of Ireland is the one best known for that. In fact, it's often been mocked by English caricaturists. Conan O' Brien... the quintessential Irish Brunn... you gotta love 'im.

<<So the idea the Roman blood has to come directly from modern Italy is absurd. Roman blood does not only exist in Italy. Like somehow Italy has a monopoly on "true Roman blood".>> Roman Blood is Italian dont be a moron now!!! Where do you think your Southern Germans and Franch got the Roman blood from? It came from Italy,Rome is located in Italy, duh! The concept of Italy did exist,in fact Italy is one of the few ancient countries that has kept its original name for over 2000 years. Italia is all over the Roman coins!Talk about being absurd, you dont even know your talking about And "Italians" is mentioned by Virgil in his work the Aeneid when talking about all of the peoples of the land and country of Italy. Your also talking about Roman citizens, when citizenship was granted to the foreigners in the lands that Italy conquered later on...and your also talking about foreign Auxiliaries that served in the Roman Army ..these are not that same as true Romans or Roman blood. Did some of these Auxilaries mix with others when serving under Roman rule ,sure they did,but so did the Romans(Italians). When Rome conquered most of the lands that became the Empire, they where still made up of Italians remember this, who took useually local wives,or that Italian settlers where moving into colonies on these lands! Only later on, during the last 300-400 years the Empire came to rely more on Foreign born soldiers but kept Italian officers and commanders in charge. This one the major reason why the Empire fell, foreign soldiers and the crack head Emperors.

Romans where Italians, since they came from Italy. Things of course have changed in 2000 years...population and demographic changes, different nutritional and environmental conditions etc. Modern Romans today are an hodge podge. Many today come from the mountains of Lazio and Abruzzo. many are Neapolitans, Calabrians Sicilans...and all over Italy..
The idea that modern dark haired european derive from Romans is nonsense
Cavalli -Sforza has isolated 4 main genetic groups in Italy. 1 group was centred in Lombardy..and he speculated a connection with the misterious Ligures 2 group was centred in south Tuscany and automatically connected with the Etruscan 3 group was in CE Italy and was connected by C-Sforza on the Italics (Samnites-Picenes etc) 4 group dominated southern italy and was linked by Sforza to the Greeks
cavalli-Sforza said that the Romans (hence genetic influence from modern day western Lazio) affected minimally the rest of Italy
Empires to succeed had to be Multirracial. The decay of rome was not due to ethnic reasons, but to a more serious correlation of Internal elements, the failure of the economical system was the first one. The Germanic tribes and the Parthians took chance of the situation.

This map shows the 3 main genetical groups of Italy colours are Red/Blue and Yellow. img255.imageshack.us/img255/9405/scigenimappa14xi.jpgBlue mixes with Yellow in Central East Italy and Red in the south Yellow is stronger around the town of Ascoli Piceno in CE Italy, and might be linked to the ancient 'Italici' while is absent in the region south of Naples. Red could be the colour of the Greek genetic influence.

Italici's though came from Sicily..Italy was named after a Siculi King by the name of Italus. The Sicels had spread out over all of Italy in archaic times.
Many classical writers likeThucydides were aware of the traditions according to which the Sicels had once lived in Central Italy, east and even north of Rome .
Also in parts of Southern Italy you had the Messapians who where Illyrians..After Rome conquered them, when they where taking over all of Italy, they became assimilated.
