What are your experiences of redheads/gingernuts? Do you like them? are you one? Have you experienced discrimination toward redheads?
Anti-redhead prejudice, take 2
Does anyone know if "Knock Down Ginger" dates back to knocking on houses where Redheads lives, and running?
Why is anti-redhead discrimination more common in Britain than anywhere else?

lol the only thing I know is that when redheads are around everyone is worried b/c theyare usually sweet but seen as sexy and fiery and are very unique-looking.
A red-haired woman with long curly hair and green eyes causes a lot of jealousy amongst women-especially is she is built well.

I always loved red curly hair. I don't know how anyone couldn't. But I had a French ex-boyfriend who told me that he didn't care what his kids looked like, as long as they didn't have red hair. I told him, "but you have red haired cousins who are cute." But he was completely convinced that red hair was unattractive. Maybe it was a French thing.
One thing I've noticed is that red hair accentuates the positive and the negative. If you aren't that cute and you have red hair it makes you uglier. If you are cute and you have red hair it makes you prettier.

Why is anti-redhead discrimination more common in Britain than anywhere else? Maybe because there are more redheads than elsewhere ? However, I don't see any discrimination against the redheads where I live. Our current and probably also next President is a redhead. Redheads do get dates. Not only women, but men too. Actually the two or three "ginger" guys I know have always been very popular with girls, because they are nice, tall and goodlooking. I even have a couple of friends who absolutely wanted/want a redheaded baby. One of them has some ruffosity gene in her family - she is a strawberry blonde and her father has a reddish beard - and married a man who has considerably redder beard than hair. She got what she wanted - a beautiful daughter with reddish hair. I think that girl is going to break some hearts when she will grow up !

People usually have strong opinions on red hair, some love it, and some think it looks like a disease, hideous.

Charles Kennedy, The former Lib Dem leader, is a great example of a red head, A real "Ginger Nut" type:
This is the most discriminated type, where the hair is a gingery coloration, rather than a redder, or blonder coloration.
I believe Gingernuts, particularly the male Gingernut is discriminated because:
The Gingernut tends to be more common in celtic stocks. Hence the local ethnic groups that were looked down upon by the English, such as the Welsh, Irish, and Scots, also had higher incidences of Gingernutism.
The Gingernut tends to have freckles. Which are an unattractive trait, as it resembles an unclean face.
The Gingernut is generally rare, and looked on with curioristy by the Blonde-Brunette hegemon.
With the female gingernut, it is her rarity that causes attraction from the opposite sex. Also her uber-fair skin is attractive, since the lighter the skin, the more clean a woman is perceived. However, the Gingernut's with freckles put this in check.

Among Latin Americas I have only seen one redhead and thats Brazilian singer Rita Lee and the only reason she is a redhead is because she's a descendent English and Scotch Irish Confederates from the American South who immigrated to a small town in the state of Sao Paulo called Americana.Maybe Educate Me has some pics of Argentinian redheads because some Irish and Welsh did immigrate there.

If you had a full mongoloid with jet black hair. How many generations of continuously mixing with Charles Kennedy type redheads would it take to depigment the hair back to Gingernut coloration.

Like others here you are erroneously thinking that your physical preferences are shared by all. I have never once heard that freckles look unclean . Furthermore, I sincerely think they are cute and look youthfull. As far as white skin looking cleaner, well that is certainly not shared by all. If that were true you wouldn't have thousands of people baking in the sun for a 'healthy' glow.

lol
What To Do About Freckles Freckles appear early in life, increase in number during summer months and fade in winter. After the age of 40-45 they disappear, but who wants to wait? Age spots are similar to freckles. They appear later in life and can occur in any skin type. If you know why the discoloration occurs and take measures to prevent and treat it, you can have an even skin tone at any age.

lol, hello.
Some mongoloids also get freckles, which is interesting, as it's usually the red head caucasoids who get it, perhaps it is to do with extreme cold adaptation.
You're right freckles might not look unclean, my mother has them, I'm just trying to get the perspective of early Britain, when all these aforementioned low class peoples were migrating to england. One things for sure, they're not a trait that is desired. i.e. more people would rather not have freckles than have them.
Also, the fair skin thing. I dont like fair skin (white race skin), unless it has a nice golden tan and is airbrushed on TV. like this Pamela Anderson photo.

I love red-headed women with more subtle tones and without freckles - when it comes to redheads, I'd probably be the most picky. I prefer German, Polish, and Ukrainian red-heads to Anglo-Irish ones.

In the U.K., red hair is associated with the Scots, thus 'anti-red-head-ism' could be related to simple ethnic strife i.e. English vs. Scottish.
