Yes, most people are better off with a religion. Atheism and freethinking are for the few. Spain was a nicer country when it was officially a catholic country and when the majority practiced the religion. Just a question, are you franquista? ;D No, why? I don´t think there were many freethinking franquists.

Because only Franquistas and falangistas have this nostalgia, of the old good times when Spain was religious, women were descent, people were respectful, etc.... And sometimes I have the impression you're a far right wing sympathizer.

Because those values were there before either of these movements. It´s no secret that I´m a traditionalist, some might say a reactionary, albeit with libertarian and freethinking tendencies. But I´m not particularly crazy about Franco and his cronies. After all, they created the present regime, which is an abomination in political and moral terms.

Don't misunderstand me pal, I'm myself quite conservative, though not religious. It's also true that before, people were more honest, more decent, more genuine and less materialist. But I'm also against all kind of extremism, may it be ideological, dogmatic, or doctrinaire. I also despise the utopia of the "belong to", It creates a false impression of self importance that conceals a deep low self-esteem.

You mean libertarian as in small state, free trade, laissez faire? I think he tried to say liberal. Libertarian has a different meaning.

You mean libertarian as in small state, free trade, laissez faire? That´s correct! Conservative libertarians are called "paleo-libertarians" in the USA.

I´m not sure what you mean by that. But you seem to be fairly ethnocentric yourself, with your endless posts about North Africans and your "morocccan for life" motto. All the while not actually living in Morocco, which makes you wonder who has a low self-esteem.

Libertarianism is against the idea of group interfering in private affaires, traditionalism only accepts the role of the group, the tribe. They are quite contradictory. But anyway, mixing these two ideologies isn't impracticable, at least from the personal angle of view.

I thought aznar was free trade neo con right winger? Aznar is a demochristian, i.e., big government prone and mildly conservative in a watered -down, Third Council Catholic way. That is, he´s not really that different from a moderate European socialist.
