In 1812 whites and criollos were 11,8% of the population of Peru, mestizos 19%, mulatos/zambos/blacks 5,9% and amerindians 63%.
So most likely amerindians are still more than half of the population.

Peru, half-Indian??? Bwa-ha-ha-ha-ha Sure, they are! Go travel there and tell me the racial make-up. Remember: Latin America usually decides "race" according to language. So if a fully-Incan Peruvian casts off his native clothes, becomes a Catholic and eschews Quechua for Castilian, then he's recorded as "white". I was amazed at it, myself. I saw a guy who could have jumped off a piece of Incan pottery. And my friend down there said, "No, he would only be considered a mestizo here." "But look at him," I challenged. "I don't see a single Caucasoid trait." "Cauca what?" she replied. "As long as you dress in Western clothes and speak Spanish, they'll call you mestizo--even if you're 100% Indian, racially." I've seen the same thing done in other Latin-American countries. If you doubt it, then travel there--and then we'll talk at greater length. Peru, only 45% Indian? --Sure they are! Bwa-ha-ha-ha-ha P.S.--Forrester, Mexico's average IQ is 87. The average American-black IQ is 85. That's why I referred to Mexico's "sub-Saharan-level" scores. But you're right: Blacks in Africa tend to score a good ten points below their mixed American cousins. One Irish professor got in trouble for wondering aloud if the IQ differential was due to Caucasoid admixture in the higher-scoring American-blacks. Good point about Peru Droop. Mestizo is largely a cultural term in Latin America. If one abandons the traditional Amerindian lifestyle for a Western one, he or she will be classified as mestizo. I'm sure this is probably fairly common. When I think of classic mestizos who display a blend of Amerindian and European traits, some of the pics that Gambler posted of several northern/central Mexicans come to mind.

He told me he lived there as a kid, yes, and might have a fuzzy or perhaps quite good idea on a certain areas. Here comes the big one! It's NOT offensive111one. I never said you thought you were an expert. Stop putting words in -my- mouth. I don't see you claiming I said you were an expert on the Middle-East, even though I made the same comparison there, so what's the deal? It was an example to clarify what you didn't get in the first place. You can read better than that, I'm sure. Unpleasant? For stating where a person lives? Can't take one disagreement on a forum and you want me see a shrink? Expecting to catch flies with vinegar? Refrain from making comments like this, admit you engaged me with a negative intention and you won't seem me "PMSing". Note: this works with most people. If you want to explain why you used that tone and expected a friendly response, I'm all ears. You could just show me where I'm wrong, dead-wrong. What does that even mean? Either (1) you have the benifit of seeing a small amount of relatives and can base your preconceptions on that instead of no knowledge, (2) you lived there for a while and have a good memory of the place, (most possible candidate in case you were wondering, although it has little to do with your point) or (3) your parents gave you Physical Anthropology lessons and showed you lots and lots of plates. What did you actually mean by not being in the dark? Not on this forum. Drooperdoo, though hazy on Mestizos would know something, but (and this is my only point) not as much as Eufrenio. Anyway, I have no real problem with you and rarely bump into you anyway, so peace out. We're just fine. Forrester, You chose to get aggressive with me in the first place. I simply retaliated. Likewise, if you expected me to take a friendly stance with you after your initial post, you were quite delusional. You reap what you sew. I've seen you heckling other people on this forum as well, so why are you suddenly surprised if we dislike it? That's only a natural reaction, people don't like when people such as yourself attempt to treat people as if they were idiots. Don't try to act like you don't know what I mean, there's nothing worse than someone who insults the intelligence of others. BTW, whatever the whole Middle Eastern comment was about, I never claimed I was offended by having other people mistake me for Middle Eastern, but I was only claiming that I never thought I looked like one. Either way, it doesn't bother me at all. I'll admit that I "engaged you with a negative intention" after you admit you did that to me in the first place. At least that's how it seemed to me.

I don't blame you buddy, I feel the same way about him than you do, everytime I see him post in any topic I don't feel like going into that topic, know what i mean? I bet AGAINST the Steelers, over.
