You guys believe that all non-blacks are considered white in the US? Non-white, non-blacks in the typical N/S American pluralistic societies due tend to take comfort of the idea that they at least better than blacks. From Mestiços in Brazil to whatever. Sure, but that doesn't mean that they consider themselves to be "white," (in the sense that the word is used by most people in the US) or that they are considered to be white by anyone else.

Hate to break it to you but portuguese are already considered white and have been for a long time. As for the answer to your question, I'd have to say hispanics simply because they have a high intermarriage rate and the children of white/hispanic unions tend to be more white in appearance than hispanic because most hispanics already have a significant amount of white(Spanish) blood. I read an article once that said 50% of interracial marriages in the U.S. are between Whites and Hispanics.

I selected "Asian" because of how they usually fit in socially with America's majority. I didn't select Portuguese or Turkish because most people label them as White anyway. I'd say that Hispanics will shortly follow Asians when achieving White status, because they carry the negative stereotype of being illegal immigrants.

Turks and Portuguese are already white in America. There are white hispanics (hispanic is not a race), and neither Asian or Blacks will be considered white any time soon. Dumb question.
