A few years ago, I attended a festival at a Greek Orthodox church in Seattle. I think it was called the 'Oregano Festival,' and I bought the most delicious dried Greek oregano there. There was Baklava and other goodies there, too. Since I live in Seattle, I should go to that, it sounds very fun. What time of the year did it occur Murphee?

It probably was in the spring or fall, as the weather was mild. I think I went around 1991--time flies!

I live in the Midwest. There are all kinds of people here, but the main ethnic groups are Black and German. There are many more Mexicans here than there were in 2000. There was a large Eastern European community here in the past.

I live in San Diego, it's not very varied really, there are mostly Northern european people and Mestizos, these 2 groups dominate the population, then with some Black and Oriental. I thought you lived in Chicago?

It seems that out west there aren't too many Irish Catholics, Italians, or Eastern Europeans. I guess those of us who are Catholic or Jewish are very heavily concentrated here in the Northeast and also in the Chicago area, with only a few pockets elsewhere. Not really. Most Catholics in the west are of Mexican other latinos origin followed by Irish Catholics, then by Filipino Catholics then Italian Caholics. The Jews live mostly in Los Angeles area and the S.F. bay area.

Interesting, I guess that would be true regarding the Catholics out west, but still, I think it'd be a safe bet that most reside in the Northeast.

Yeah Los Angeles has the second largest Jewish population in the U.S after the Big Apple especially in Beverly Hills and the San Fernando Valley area of L.A.

Where I grew up in California there were a lot of portuguese. I went to Catholic school, full of Portuguese, Irish, German, Polish, Italian, Mexican, other. Probably in that order. It is... San Diego, California. There probably are a lot more Southern and Eastern European descent people, it's just that they have a "plain ole' white" identity--on a big scale they just blend in with other white people.

^I've heard that northern California is actually loaded with descendants of northern Italian immigrants. Yep, like the Gallo family. Alot of the wine growers in California are of Northern Italian origins.
