Some say that we French people hate showers but douse ourselves with perfume, claim we are Cartesian but are indeed superstitious, are arrogant, parochial, convinced we're the center of the world and that other folks envy us, affect intellectualism whereas we don't know jack shit about anything. Mmmm… let me think… this bad reputation about bad hygiene is an invention of our hereditary foes , the Brits. Regarding the rest, I'd say that fortunately, we're more broadminded than that.

Didn't you forget something, Bryce? Something that starts with "s" and rhymes with "urrender"?

Another Italian stereotype is that all unmarried Italian men only move out of their parents house when they are in their 30's or when they get married.

Some good stereotypes:
Sicilian half: We Sicilians are sexy, have good food, are fun-loving/hospitable, and have strong family ties.
American mix half: We Irish are fun-loving and can hold our liquor well, we Germans are good at science, we English are polite, we French are cultured, we N. Italians (basically same stereotypes as Sicilians lol, only more fashionable ;D).

I've always imagined southern Italians and Sicilians as more Mediterranean, like Greeks and Spaniards, but Northern Italians I've always had a Central European image in mind, as if they had more affinities with Austria and Switzerland than with Southern Europe.

People tend to forget that there´s something in between Northern and Southern Italy: Lazio (Rome) , Tuscanny (Florence), etc... It´s called central Italy, and is arguably the most distinguished part of the country. As to the stereotypes affecting my country, Spain... In no particular order, and depending on the country: laziness, siesta, bullfights, the Inquisition, the Spanish Armada, fiesta, flamenco....

You're right Mike, the mentality and cultural lifestyle is much like that, as are the ethnic origins to a certain extent. But Eufrenio has a great point, central Italy is truly the heart of Italy in every way, and both the Roman Empire and the Renaissance, two of Italy's greatest moments in history of course, had their roots there.

Really. If anyone can come up with a solution please let me know! It definitely won't be an easy task for me....tooo rebelious ie. unconventional!
