While on this subject (and it is kinda funny ;D), I've also heard that a good number of women go for guys who resemble their fathers, and I assume that this could be true for men going for women who resemble their mothers. Is there any validity to this notion?

It is a theory of sorts. I can only be subjective about it as I haven't studied mate selection. I don't think resemble means physical resemblance, more personality traits of the parents. I have noticed on myself and my sibs, I have 7. Of my three sisters, two selected men with personalities like my father, these sisters are still with those men, my other sister didn't and she is not with that man. In my family the males tend to take up with women who are older - that the case with my grandfather, my father and me. I think there may be something in the theory but how one would prove it?

My brother married a woman who was like my mother. I married someone who was like neither of my parents, but who is like myself.

I heard that women don't want a man that smells like their father's pheromones. The women who are attracted to men that smell like their father's are on birth control. The birth control messes up the whole system. The idea is that a man's smell indicates what kind of immune system he has and to have a healthiest offspring a women must find a man whose immune system is very different from her own. With many other traits women generally choose men who are like themselves.

I don't particularly care for my father's smell and never have. He is of Amerindian and British descent. My immediate animal attractions are usually to Med men.
