The modern way of discrimination means that bigots just have to turn on CNN to see who they are allowed to denigrate today.

It is sad. When a bigot says something stupid, it always reflects poorly on the bigot. We all have our prejudices and secret thoughts about other people and groups, but the ones who express them to your face merely appear stupid. (I am talking about real life, not the Internet. Revelations of prejudice on a race forum I do not deem stupid) ;D

Well, being a person of mixed race...I can't say I totally understand why one person would feel uncomfortable with another of the same race mixing with a person of a different race. I don't think any one ethnic group on this planet is in any immediate danger of being a dying breed. For some people, I don't think it's a case of just looking out for people of a different race, just because. Laws of attraction, emotional and physical often determine who we go for. But culture, that's something I can't always put clearly into black or white. People say that blacks and whites have different cultures...in some instances that may well be true. But in others it isn't. Many people of different ethnicity share the same cultural values and celebrate the same festivals. Honour their families and loved ones in the same way and dress in the same clothes. It's obvious in this day and age that people shouldn't be determined by their ethnicity (in the west) because there are so many different types of people out there. Just my penny worth.

I'm a mixed person, too. Predominantly Jewish backround and also my ancestors in Germany and Eastern Europe picked up some Nordic and/or Upper Paleolithic genes along the way as evidenced by my appearance.

While I can be pointing out to the differences between us, I don't deny him/her the part of heritage that rightfully belongs to him/her, and I would dare to say that this is something common among Spaniards. In fact, the degree of tolerance of Spaniards towards mulatos varies greatly depending on their cultural background and heritage. Are you saying that Spaniards are tolerant of mulattos and other mixed race people, and allow them to marry Spaniards? Would you let him marry into your family? Seems to be what happened in South America.

WTF how can you compare Portuguese and Italians meds with South American sub-indians ?? ?? ?? Mestizos who try to act like Spaniards, such as yourself, are a shame for the real Spanish mediterrean population. Marry with your own sub-indian mestizo type, stay away from white mediterranean girls! LOL Nice one... your attitude is a lot healthier than galvez and Mynydd.

I was just saying that if two people share the same culture like an american black and a white american why is there intermixing such a big deal? You must not be American. That statement is so egregiously inaccurate. That's like saying South African whites have the same culture as black Africans. Black Americans are very different from white Americans. There is no common culture between them. They speak roughly the same language, though blacks have a much smaller vocabulary with their own inflection and slang. Blacks know very well they are different from whites and are proud of such differences. Even calling a black person "white" if they talk with correct grammar and a good vocabulary (Chris Rock, a black comedian, jokes about the anti-intellectualism of his fellow blacks). There is no connection between blacks and whites, as one expects with 100,000 years of divergent evolution. We can even teach gorillas how to communicate using sign language, but that doesn't make them human.

I don't understand why Americans need to racially classify people as part of their certificates. It doesn't happen in Australia, though it is a question that is often asked in the census. Race mixing is nothing new in the USA. Go for it. Being that you are not American, you don't have the right to tell Americans to "go for it", as in to race mix. I hope most Australians don't believe as you do, what a shame. Have some self-respect, man.

There is no connection between blacks and whites, as one expects with 100,000 years of divergent evolution. We can even teach gorillas how to communicate using sign language, but that doesn't make them human. I'm not American either, although I know enough about white and black races (because I am a mix of both) to know that a persons skin colour does not determine their intellect. Their attitude and how they approach life yes, but their intellect no. To say that a person who is black will have a smaller vocabulary and speak with a slang, and apply that to all blacks (American or not) is a flawed statement. There are many successful, academically talented blacks in America and beyond. There is also the "rap culture" but that doesn't define a whole section of people. Even if in your mind it does. Why is it, that people such as yourself will always put people into a category? They are either black and dumb or white and intelligent. I'm afraid that is not so. Each ethnicity has it's intellects and it's intellectually-challenged. Each ethnicity has people that will branch out into their own unique "stereotypical" culture. And then there are people who are inbetween. Don't presume yourself to be better than someone else simply because of where and to whom you were born. Everyone has faults. Black people tend to be identity-protective. Some are aggressively that way and will turn to anything that is majority black-orientated, such as the rap culture, to get a certain sense of culture. Sadly, the rap culture doesn't teach morals and self-respect. There are white youths who for varying reasons choose also to divulge in the rap culture. Then there are strongly religious church-going blacks who seek strength and solice in a more morally-defining way and like to keep within the black community whilst doing so as a means of comfort and also self-protection. There are white-church goers who are the same. Things are not as clear-cut Nordhammer as you would believe they are. Nothing is simply black and white, but different shades of gray inbetween. No one can speak for the many millions of blacks out there, the same way no one can speak for the millions of whites out there. There is difference of opinion, mind and "culture" right across the board. The beauty of humanity is the rainbow of something called personality...which each human being on this earth is entitled to keep unique, and not be self-defined by the physical every time, just because people will label them with stereotypes. Stereotyping people is one of the most boring things people can do these days.

I wouldn't like for my daughter to marry someone who is not of my ethnicity, because that would mean that my grandchildren wouldn't continue my 'tribe' I am not sure about that. Of course, race and ethnicity are vastly different things and I don’t know whether you meant race or you meant what you’ve actually just said – ethnicity. Generally speaking ethnic purity has been the monopoly feature of the lower classes and of peasantry in central and eastern Europe. Educated classes and nobility had intermarried deliberately with people of other ethnic groups for hundreds of years. On my Russian side I have relatives who are as more or less Germans (I know it sounds complicated) can trace their ancestry to 1200s and are related to people literally from Norway down to Basque country with everybody else in between. Peasants and lower class urban dwellers who rarely can trace their ancestry back to more than a few generations often think that they are pure, sometimes mistakenly, and they also happen to be the fans of ethnic purity stuff. It’s quite remarkable that the most virulent ethnic conflicts in Europe and most vicious ethnic oppression occurred and occurs in “countries” which have only recently appeared on the map out of nowhere and are “liberated” peasant societies. People who have nothing else to show often become obsessed with their (often worthless) ethnicity.
