Funny article. Plumpness even back in Victorian era was very much favored and desired well up until the early 20th century...So this all of sudden disdain over plumpness is amusing.
Nor do I understand the disbelief of the height. Females are always shorter, not to mention the average height of Central and Northern Europeans in the 17th-early 20th century was no taller for men than 5'7,women around 5'1. So why does modern sensibilities of supposed attractiveness factor into the ancient world, and these are supposed scientists, makes me laugh.
<<She was a charming and seductive woman," she said. "As a Mediterranean woman she was obviously a little plump. That does not mean she was fat or ugly.">>
I don't understand that one either...

I agree with the british on this, her beauty was probably just a reputation and nothing more. look at this roman bust of her, not exactly the same cleopatra we see portrayed by hollywood I don't understand why Hawas is getting offended, I mean she wasn't even real Egyptian but Greek and by far the least significant queen of Egypt. She can't remotly match real Egyptian queens such as Nefertiti and Hatshepsut. She's just one of those individuals exagerated by western media because of her link with Greek and Rome.
