I was watching an episode about 5 years ago and I remember it was about all these guests who were supposedly acting too white for their race or whatever.
Anyway, I just can't believe how silly the whole damn show was. What sticks out in my memory are 2 guests in particular.
There was 1 black woman who said that her black friend was acting too white. When ricki asked if she was at all part white, the woman said no. She said "my friend has no white in her. She is 99% black and 1% Portuguese." I couldn't help but laugh...Portuguese aren't white?
The second incident was even funnier. They had this really pale girl who was angry at her friend for dating in her words "a whiteboy". Well, it turns out the pale girl complaining was half Italian and half puerto rican. When asked to describe herself, she said "I have no white in me. I am half Puerto Rican and half Italian"!
When I heard that I practically fell off my chair! Even worse....the audience actually bought it! This girl was a "person of color" in their eyes! WOW!
And then of course I knew this Spanish girl who insisted that she was not a white girl! I can't get over stuff like this!

They say 'white', but what they mean is...ahem... 'honkeyoid'.
Identity politics are way too pervasive. When I was a kid in the USA, I once identified as 'non-white' in some survey, and promptly got shouted at by my parents. I'm not sure if wanting to identify racially with the majority is morally 'better', but at least it's less divisive than doing the opposite.

anyone who is not anglo in america or who does not look anglo people will think they are not white.especailly if they speak spanish no matter if they look like an carman diaz or not

If Spaniards aren't white then who else isn't white? Greeks? (I am part Greek, trust me the idea of Greeks being "people of color" is nonsense lol)
I assure you spaniards are very white. Who wants to be white? thats the point. Nobody wants to be white even though they are. Its a status thing nowadays. I think today white has come to mean rich, weak, and privileged, and you are right nobody wants to be thought of as that. Its almost like a curse word nowadays.
People want to be thought of as tough, not spoiled.

Typical Spaniards look white ive lived in Spain for over 6 years of my life and have visited their every 2-3 years since. I know how Spaniards look like and you would be surprised you sound like a typical ignorant American that gets all his information from MTV.

I know what you mean. Most Italians I know consider themselves white, but I know that some out there don't, in fact, many don't. It seems that anybody from the Mediterranean doesn't associate much with white culture. A lot of Arabs and Egyptians I know don't even know that they're Caucasian. To them, that word equals WASP.

Hahaha! yeah, in america white means a pansy, honkeyoid-looking anglo european. Spanish, greeks, portuugese etc are considered exotic and non-white. It has to do mostly with the fact that in america most whites are anglo-germanic types. Anybody not fitting that norm is non-white.
Who wants to a be honkeyoid northern european anyway? They need some damn color, they are really unattractive to me. Forget seclusion, they need to race-mix with everyone in sight

those shows are one of the reasons alot of whites think its uncool to be white IMO. At the same time, those shows glorify the ghetto nature of black americans so much its sickening hearing about the umpteenth 12 year old getting pregnant. Blacks and Whites alike should boycott ricki lake, springer and whatever

Agreed. It's a pretty terrible truth that many people are entertained by these propagandistic shows. What are we--- vestiges of bloody Rome? It's like the Colosseum out there.

Someone wrote Carmen Diaz instead of Cameron Diaz. Interesting mistake. I lived in the States until my early adulthood, and I must have lived in a white cloud as I never heard of this Portuguese/Spanish/Greeks...aren't White as in caucasoid stuff. Never heard the idea that certain caucasoids are White and others not before this board. It is interesting that whenever pictures of White people are posted as examples, the people posted look borderline caucasoid in their facial looks like that redheaded woman. Odd isn't. A troll from Norway with rabbit teeth who can sing and some strange person who could be Bjorke's grandmother. Is Ricky Lake Jewish? I think of her as Italian, Ricky Lago. Strange woman. I think what people think in their countries is okay, provided they don't try to export their oddball thinking abroad. And I have to say, my American friends, you have certainly been remiss in exporting your silly ideas of what is caucasoid or White abroad. Maybe try being a little thoughtful and discrete with your odd racist viewpoints.

thats the point. Nobody wants to be white even though they are. Its a status thing nowadays.
