Maybe it's the beginning of the absorption of immigrant populations. It happened before with the French Huguenots who made up 10% of England's population-- so many arrived. Where are they all now? However, they were also European so the distance wasn't so big as far as blending in.

I've recently discovered that I'm Huguenot in my maternal ancestry and according to this http://www.cryptojews.com/HUGANOTS.html

I might be a sephardi as well.

I know that during the 1800's, the English were considered as the most bigoted of all Europeans. I guess now they're tryin' to change their image.
