Not complaining about that in any way (in fact, most of my family is Asian) but it's the truth. I don't think most Asian groups should qualify as racial minorities FOR THE PURPOSE OF affirmative action because they are not under-represented in educational system/professional fields.

As far as I know for the UC system before, Whites are more points added to their "scores" before Asians. Is that right?

I never heard about that, but that does not seem fair IF it's true. If I recall correctly, some people in Northern California complained about the huge "overrepresentation" of certain groups (e.g., the stae has 10% Asian and they are 50% of UCB -- I made that figure up but it was something like that)... so maybe they tried to "fix" that. But I think as long as they were doing the same work and filling out the same applications, having a disproportionate number of Asians is fine.

I do support some system for ensuring a certain number of underrepresented minorities (for me this would include very poor people of any color who are the first in their families to attend school). Of course, those people should also show outstanding promise. After that it should be based on scores, essays, etc.

I think it would be a good idea to say that some asians are white and that others are brown.

Some people from Korea, Japan, are white compared to people from other fellow asians. Some are even white compared to europeans. Who has lighter skin? Lucy Liu or Angie Harmon? About the same are they not?

I think affirmative action should be implemented with Asians and Jews, they are overrepresented, it's unjust and unfair, it's against the principle of equality and sharia.

When they say Asian do they include Indian Americans too (ethnic people from India)? According to the U.S. Census Indian Americans have the highest median income of any ethnic group in the U.S. ($60,093). That is more than Chinese Americans, White Americans, ect. but I wouldn't necessarily classify Indians as Chinese. They seem like a race all of their own.

in some references most non-whites in the uk are considered "black" (particularly blacks, asians, and mix race). as in "Black and Minority Ethnic" (BME).

No it doenst. White means Caucasoid . Are you sure your from the USA?

Just look at any official United States document and census regarding Race(which you see all the time when you fill out forms or take city tests):

US CENUS
* The term White refers to people having origins in any of the original peoples of Europe, the Middle East, or North Africa. It includes people who indicate their race as "White" or report entries such as Irish, German, Italian, British, Arab, or Polish.

Also, what that article I posted above is saying is that out of all racial groups in this country, Asians are more integrated with Whites... mainly because most of 'em live in white neighborhoods, compete for the same jobs as them, and White-Asian couples are the most overlooked of all race-mixers.

Just remember, there are plenty of Americans who still don't consider MiddleEasterners as White. I suggest ya read THIS article, especially the section that talks about Chinese people in Mississippi:

I doubt it. I think even the most ignorant human can tell apart a Mongoloid from a Caucasoid. If your saying East Asians will become 'White', because its a social construct, that seems odd.

Even the most successful blacks in america, arent considered White.

Also, I think your talking about certain circles within Politics which viewed fellow Caucasoids as non-White. Concept of Whiteness probably goes back to Columbus and Spanish in fact, which was picked up by the Anglo's whom used it here in the states and India for political gain.. primarily out've jealousy, racism, ethno-nationalism, economics, nativism, and xenophobia.
